A successful year 2019 for the TUM
The Technische Universität München (TUM) has looked back on a successful year 2019 at the Dies academicus. The award as a university of excellence for the future concept “TUM Agenda 2030” was particularly important – especially as it had already been won by the university before. In the future, the TUM will reorganize itself into different schools in order to be able to make research and teaching across subject boundaries even more innovative. Career opportunities for the mid-level faculty and a lifelong further education for alumni will complete this nurturing of talents. Celonis, which emerged as a start-up from the TUM, was also awarded the German Future Prize of the Federal President. A further milestone was the change of the university’s president: After more than 24 years, Prof. Wolfgang A. Hermann was succeeded by Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann.
Several deserving personalities were also honored during the festivities. The founder Felix Haas received the TUM Entrepreneur of Excellence Award because he is an outstanding role model for future generations of entrepreneurs. In addition, further awards were presented.
