Class of 2020 Presents Business Ideas During Final Pitch Session

Over the past few months, the Class of 2020 in our Executive MBA in Innovation & Business Creation has been fine-tuning the business ideas behind their team projects. The moment of truth arrived on 20 July: During the final pitches session, the individual teams presented their business concepts in front of the entire class and a panel of TUM experts.

In preparation, the class had used three on-site weekends to optimize their business concepts while conducting interviews with potential clients and users, constructing prototypes, and performing market analyses. During the third on-site weekend from 21 – 24 June, the team took inspiration from company visits at start-up companies such as innosabi, Mr Beam Lasers, ParkHere and Polarstern Energie.

The teams also practiced the effective communication of their business ideas – both in light of the upcoming pitches as well as attracting potentials investors – during a storytelling workshop with UnternehmerTUM’s Franziska Heyde. Prof. Hana Milanov presented actionable insights for the team projects in her lecture on “Entrepreneurial Growth & Internationalization”, based on the Business Model Canvas method.

Guest speakers provided practical advice and learnings from business experience, including Andreas Kunze of sensor manufacturer KONUX as well as Dr. Anne Kreile, Unternehmertum Venture Capital Partners (UVC). Rounding out an insightful weekend on Sunday, Ziéd Bahrouni of Munich-based tech-start-up Motius – which originated during a TUM project – motivated the group to optimize their business ideas and prepare for their pitches.

Meanwhile, participants in the Class of 2019 in our Executive MBA in Innovation & Business Creation are already one step further on their journey towards certification: They are currently deeply engaged in completing their individual projects. Efforts also included preparation for the recently completed speed pitches session in July as the last chance to obtain valuable feedback before their final pitches in September, after which they enter into the final stages of their master’s theses.

At the same time, our participants are working on their individual business plans, for which they also received important feedback in July. We wish all participants the best in this critical stage on their way to certification as Executive MBAs in Innovation & Business Creation.
