Class of 2021 Successfully Starts Executive MBA in Innovation & Business Creation Program

On 24 April, we welcomed our new Class of 2021 of the Executive MBA in Innovation & Business Creation here in Munich. Starting things off on a personal note, the 34 participants from 15 countries – about 50 percent of the class are international participants, one-third are women – used several team exercises to get to know their peers. Highlights included the fun Rube Goldberg Workshop in which several teams were required to work together on building a nonsense machine.

Starting the official curriculum, the class learned about the strategic implementation of business tools in their very first module: Strategy & Organization with Prof. Dr. Thomas Hutzschenreuter of the TUM Chair for Strategic and International Management, and Prof. Oliver Alexy, TUM Chair for Strategic Entrepreneurship. The module also featured several guest speakers sharing best practices, including Philipp Engelhardt (former CFO of Groupon Europe), Dr. Dominik Pförringer (Klinikum Rechts der Isar) and EMBA IBC alumnus Gregor Reischle (Head of Additive Manufacturing TÜV Süd).

As an important foundation for the upcoming months, our new participants received an introduction to the Team Projects, where they will work together in team of 4 to develop and validate business ideas. To receive guidance and orientation, the class participated in sessions on Opportunity Recognition and Team Formation. On 29 April, the last evening of the module provided a chance to network with partners of UnternehmerTUM’s Venture Capital Fund.

We are delighted about the great start of our Class of 2021. After an intense and informative first week, the group is already looking forward to tackling the next module, startings in May.
