Today we warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. Marshall Van Alstyne, Questrom School of Management, Boston University, who conducted a workshop on “Digital Platforms & Challenges for Industry” at TUM Campus Heilbronn. He is one of the leading experts in network business models. His co-developed concept of “two-sided networks” has been a major contribution to the theory of network effects and his co-authored article on the subject is a Harvard Business Review top 50 of all time.
Together with Prof. Dr. Helmut Krcmar, Founding Dean of TUM Campus Heilbronn and our assistant professor in the field of digital platform economies, Prof. Dr. Jens Förderer, rigorous exchanges of academic findings have taken place on topics such as “Innovation, Openness & Platform Control” and “Superstar Complementors: Do Platform Awards Crowd Out Innovation?”. Followed by a poster session with PhD candidates, discussions were held on Platformization and future challenges to be faced by industries. Thank you Prof. Dr. Marshall Van Alstyne for visiting us and sharing your knowledge with aspiring researchers and practitioners.
