TUM Board Academy

Strengthen your strategic judgment in dealing with emerging technologies and geopolitical uncertainty.

The TUM Board Academy helps supervisory board members, executive board members, and managing directors assess global change and the impact of technology in a scientifically grounded and practical way. As a Technical University of Munich offering, the TUM Board Academy combines academic excellence and interdisciplinary perspectives with exclusive insights into research and laboratories, alongside confidential peer exchange.

Together, these elements create a neutral space in which the implications of emerging technologies can be assessed — as a basis for responsible, independent, and effective decision-making.

Societal Impact

The TUM Board Academy addresses the fundamental transformation of the role of supervisory bodies in an environment shaped by technological dynamism and geopolitical uncertainty. In their strategic responsibility, supervisory board members, executive board members, and managing directors are now required to assess change correctly in order to actively support companies in their long-term strategic positioning.

The Academy enables participants to evaluate major shifts in business and society, as well as the impact of emerging technologies, in a way that is both scientifically grounded and relevant to practice. It also incorporates the political perspective on the framework conditions required for long-term competitiveness, helping boards make better-informed decisions and support responsible corporate development in Germany and Europe.

Executive Board Member TUM, Host of the TUM Board Academy
Dr. Ralf Wintergerst

We speak with leading researchers in technology, in AI, and quantum computing about the real potential of these technologies. That is exactly what we, as supervisory board members and executives, need to understand.

Dr. Ralf Wintergerst
Chairman of the Executive Board & Group CEO, Giesecke+Devrient GmbH; President, Bitkom
Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus

Digitalization is a classic collaborative and cross-cutting issue. Precisely because of that, it requires common ground, shared ideas about values, and a common understanding of how we want to shape the future.

Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus
Hessian Minister for Digital Strategy and Innovation
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Helmut Krcmar

Supervisory boards face major challenges because they must connect radical changes in business processes themselves, as well as political changes in the broader context, with what is already happening in their companies — and they must drive new innovation without immediately abandoning existing successful products.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Helmut Krcmar
Professor Emeritus of Information Systems and Business Process Management, TUM
