Aradhana Chopra
Executive MBA in Business & IT Candidate since October 2024
Building a Career at the Intersection of Science, Technology and Business
Technology has played an important role throughout Aradhana Chopra’s career. Today, Aradhana works at the intersection of business and technology, helping organizations develop digital ideas into practical solutions. “Technology only creates real value when it’s adopted responsibly, with people at the centre,” she explains. “My work has always involved making complex technologies understandable and useful for the people who work with them. I help teams adopt digital tools and AI in a way that is practical, responsible and built to last.”
As a Marie Curie Fellow, she completed her PhD in biophysics at TUM, where she researched nucleic-acid-based drug delivery and vaccines.
Over time, however, her interest shifted beyond scientific discovery itself. “I realised my real fascination was in how technology gets adopted and scaled inside organizations.”
Moving from academia into business meant entering an entirely new world. Stakeholder management, commercial thinking and organizational change became just as important as technical expertise.
One milestone, in particular, illustrates that transition. Aradhana Chopra rebuilt an enterprise Identity and Access Management support operation serving more than one million users from the ground up. The result was a transformation that reduced response times from days to minutes while cutting a backlog of well over a thousand incidents down to just a handful.
Years of experience in digital transformation had already given Aradhana Chopra a deep understanding of technology and project delivery. What she was looking for next was a broader strategic perspective. The Executive MBA in Business & IT at TUM stood out because it reflected exactly the intersection in which she works every day. “It was one of very few programmes that matched exactly what I’m doing and would like to develop further – sitting deliberately at the intersection of business and technology rather than treating them as separate.”
The modular structure of the Executive MBA also meant she could continue working while putting new ideas into practice straight away. Just as valuable was the opportunity to learn alongside an international cohort and gain fresh perspectives through the program’s partnerships with the University of St. Gallen and the University of California, Berkeley.
“The most impactful shift has been learning to connect strategy to technology decisions and overall governance and how they need to be adjusted and adapted in changing situations and environments.” Strategy and Corporate Governance soon became two of the modules she found particularly relevant. The Executive MBA in Business & IT has also helped Aradhana Chopra connect her technical expertise more closely with business strategy. Today, she looks beyond the delivery of individual projects and considers how digital transformation can support an organization’s broader goals over time.
One of the things Aradhana Chopra values most about the Executive MBA in Business & IT is the people. Every cohort brings together professionals from different industries and backgrounds, creating discussions that challenge perspectives and broaden everyone’s thinking.
“The most valuable gain has been the peers. The experiences shared and the depth of discussion with people from completely different industries have reshaped how I think and approach my own problems.”
Together with the program’s international partnerships and close ties to industry, the Executive MBA in Business & IT offers an environment where new perspectives emerge naturally.
Empowering Responsible Digital Leadership
Throughout the Executive MBA, strategic frameworks, practical insights and discussions with experienced professionals have strengthened Aradhana Chopra‘s ability to connect technology with responsible decision-making.
The experience has also reinforced the direction she wants to take as a leader. “My longer-term goal is to grow into a leader who shapes how organizations adopt digitalisation and AI sustainably and responsibly; in the nearer term, I want to keep closing the gap between strong technical delivery and strategic business value.”
