Combining scientific precision with accessible insight, this course offers a deep dive into the nexus of technology and environmental sustainability. From the basics of climate science to the advanced applications of green computing and artificial intelligence, we explore the wide range of challenges and opportunities that IT offers regards the fight against climate change.
For this exciting exploration, we (TUM and Software Campus) have invited nine experts to share their diverse perspectives. With a rich mix of English-language scientific presentations and German interviews, all content is fully subtitled to break down language barriers and foster a diverse learning experience.
To receive a certificate, participants must complete the academic course marked with the “pink rabbit” symbol. The course includes approximately three hours of mandatory video content, as well as additional reading and group work. All other interview sections are optional for those interested.

- (Future) IT PhD students who are interested in a connection to the Software Campus and want to deepen their understanding of sustainable technologies and earn academic credits.
- General enthusiasts with no prior requirements, curious about the role of technology in sustainability.

Admission requirements:
- For the acquisition of a certificate: Students are required to thoroughly engage with modules 1 through 7 and participate in the collective mission (Module 8).
- General audience: No prerequisites required; engage with the course content based on interest.
- Language: Scientific content in English; interviews in German. All content includes German and English subtitles
Graduation:
After successful completion of the final exam, participants will receive a certificate from Coursera and the Technical University of Munich.
Program fees:
The program fee is 45 EUR. Access to lectures and assignments depends on your type of enrollment. If you take the course in audit mode, you will be able to see most course materials for free. To access graded assignments and to earn a Certificate, you will need to purchase the Certificate experience, during or after your audit.
