Executive MBA “Class of 2018” Completes “Operations & Supply Chain Management” Module

What are the challenges facing business leaders in the management of supply chains and operational processes in today’s globalized economy? Our Executive MBA Class of 2018 pursued the answers from 15 – 19 September, 2017, in the elective module “Operations & Supply Chain Management (OSCM)”.

The module is part of a current expansion of our Executive MBA curriculum: This year marked the introduction of four new elective modules – offered in parallel to our regular course offering – here at the Technical University of Munich School of Management. This elective course also marked the last on-site module for our Class of 2018 before next semester’s push towards certification and work on EMBA master theses commences.

The “Operations & Supply Chain Management” module focused on areas such as process management, supply chain management, and procurement. With a strong emphasis on current events and R&D, lecturers also discussed the impact of emerging technologies on the optimization of supply chains. As an example, our Class of 2018 explored the implementation of drones in final-stage product delivery, currently in testing stages at Amazon, among other companies.

Rounding out an eventful module, the EMBA Class of 2018 went on a company visit at the HQ of Munich-based broadcaster Sky, which they already became acquainted with during the early stages of their EMBA program. One of the special highlights of the visit included a behind-the-scenes into Sky’s in-house incubator, recently launched under the name Play and already home to its fourth generation of start-up companies.
