Innovation Campus for Munich Airport

Munich Airport just engaged in a new project – building a new innovation hub with offices, laboratories, think tanks, and startup locations which shall be named LabCampus. The objective is to foster cooperation between experts of leading companies and startups, investors, and creative minds to develop new ideas and business models at the new innovation center, which will comprise a total area of 500,000 square meters. Thomas Weyer, CFO and Director of Infrastructure at Munich Airport, states that the airport is particularly suitable for this kind of project, as it brings together 150,000 people every day.

The LabCampus at Munich Airport could help making Munich even more attractive for hightech industries and other key sectors. Especially businesses working in areas such as aerospace, energy, mobility and digitization could be attracted with the new future-focused innovation center.

Key partners of the project will be renowened companies such as Siemens as well as research organizations such as Fraunhofer institut. Moreover, the start-up incubator UnternehmerTUM oft the Technical University of Munich will engage in the project.
