Participants of the Executive MBA and the Executive MBA in Business & IT visit China
Highly motivated and impressed with insights into business culture in China: That’s how our participants in the Executive MBA and Executive MBA in Business & IT returned from their almost two-week visit to our partner school Tsinghua University. The university is a long-term and strategic partner of the TUM School of Management and EMBA delegations have been visiting Beijing as part of their curriculum for over a decade.
From 8 – 19 April 2019, a delegation of 46 Executive MBA participants visited Beijing, including two participants from our Executive MBA in Business & IT program. The itinerary offered deep insights into the business practices and cultural conventions in China, with lectures at the Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication (8 – 10 April) as well as the Tsinghua School of Economics and Management (15 – 19 April).
Company visits with tree global companies were a fundamental part of the experience, including the BMW Research & Development Center in Beijing, AMECO as well as the Huawei Executive Briefing Center. All company visits were very successful and received excellent feedback. At AMECO Beijing, the group had a chance to visit both the aircraft hangar and engine shop, after enjoying a customized presentation by Ameco Beijing’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Andreas Meisel.
The cultural program of the trip showcased our host country’s storied history and cultural traditions. Highlights included an overnight trip to The Great Wall of China, replete with a memorable party at the Bamboo House #8 at The Commune at The Great Wall Hotel as well as a guided tour of the Forbidden City in Beijing. The schedule also made room for culinary experiences: The group was treated to a Japanese Welcome Dinner, a Tibetan Dinner and genuine Peking Duck. Evening activities during the study weeks included events like Chinese Karaoke in a private room for the entire group.
Looking ahead, the TUM School of Management seeks to further strengthen the collaboration with Tsinghua University. July 2019 will mark the next step: Participants in our Young Professionals Program from the TUM Track of the Master in Management & Innovation will head to Tsinghua University as part of their Study Trip to China.
