President of the TUM speaks at “Munich Talks”

What role do science and technology play in a world in which political certainties are dissolving and which is facing global problems such as climate change? How must research and teaching change? Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann, President of the Technical University of Munich, will speak about these questions on January 20 in the series “Munich Talks” at the Munich School of Politics / TUM School of Governance. The title of his talk is “Science and Engineering in a Changing World”.

Thomas F. Hofmann has been President of TUM since October last year. For ten years, he had previously been responsible for the Research and Innovation division as Executive Vice President. From 2017 to 2019 he was also director of the Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich.

The TUM School of Governance, founded in 2017, researches and teaches the interaction of politics and technology, which today plays a decisive role in almost all policy areas. With this extraordinary focus of research and education, it makes a significant contribution to understanding and shaping the social changes brought about by rapid technological development. In the “Munich Talks” personalities from science and politics provide impulses for public debate on this subject area.
