Prof. Axel Börsch-Supan appointed as a member of the pension commission

On May 3, 2018, federal minister Hubertus Heil presented the members of the pension comission. The comission consists of experts from the fields politics, economics and social partners and it aims at developing and improving a sustainable pension system from the year 2025. One of the comission’s members is Prof. Axel Börsch-Supan, professor for Economics of Aging at TUM School of Management. The research of Professor Börsch-Supan focuses on the micro and macroeconomic effects of aging, the saving behavior of private households, the reform of the social security systems and issues relating to the labor and capital markets.

The commission will develop its plan for the future of retirement systems and generational programs in 2020 and in 2025 the changes will be put to effect. Various dialogues, technical discussions and specialist conferences have been organized between the members of the commission and associations alongside interest groups regarding the financing and implementation of retirement programs, the first dialogues are already predicted to take place at the beginning of July, 2018. More symposiums and discussions with specialists are also dated for the half of 2019.
