Prof. Dr. Jens Förderer wins Best Paper of the Year Award
TUM-Professor Jens Förderer has been awarded a prize by the Journal Information Systems Research (ISR): For his study “Does Platform Owner’s Entry Crowd Out Innovation? Evidence from Google Photos”, published in June 2018, he received the Best Paper of the Year Award. This accolade is given to outstanding publications by the editorial staff of the leading journal for information systems.
The study by Jens Förderer shows that a platform owner’s entry into the market that complements his own platform does not lead to a decline in innovation activity of the complementors, but can even stimulate it – under certain conditions. It was compiled in collaboration with Thomas Kude (ESSEC), Sunil Mithas (South Florida) and Armin Heinzl (Mannheim).
Jens Förderer has been working at the Heilbronn campus of the TUM School of Management since August 2019. Holding a Ph. D., Msc. and BSc. from the Business School of the University of Mannheim, he examines digital platforms with particular regard to their effects on competition and innovation in markets.
