Professor Wildemann about Industry 4.0

Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Horst Wildemann, who holds the research institute for corporate management, logistics and production at TUM School of Management, published an article about the topic “Industry 4.0” in the vdi nachrichten – the journal of the Association of German Engineers.

In the article, Prof. Wildemann writes about the new possibilities for companies that come with the Industry 4.0. He thinks that it will lead to companies relocating their production back from foreign countries as production costs are decreasing with new technologies. In conclusion, Industry 4.0 will lead to securing jobs, states Wildemann. Furthermore, he explains that digital technologies will be the key to a transparent and open mode of communication because employees’ scope of action increases. In addition, he explains that digital technologies support employees’ motivation through gamification. Moreover, he writes about Big Data and the advantages coming with it if it is used appropriately. Finally, Prof. Wildemann concludes that the concepts for productivity increase of the Industry 4.0 are diverse and can lead to significant sales increases and cost reductions.
