Second annual Career Fair Management & Technology

On November 17, 2015 some 1,500 students and representatives of nearly 20 different companies from a range of industries met in the Matriculation Hall of Technische Universität München for the annual Career Fair Management and Technology, now in its second year. The event was a great occasion for participants to get to know each other and exchange information about career options.

“The unique combination of management and technology, the close integration of theory and practice and the international orientation we give our students mean that they are just what companies’ HR people are looking for,” said Professor Gunther Friedl, Dean of TUM School of Management and Chairman of the Board of TUM Management Alumni. “We organize the Career Fair to give them an opportunity to meet each other in a relaxed setting.”

The Career Fair opened its doors at 12 noon with a welcome address from Professor Reiner Braun, holder of the Chair for Entrepreneurial Finance 2. Visitors were delighted to see so many leading firms from different industries in attendance. “I’m reaching the end of my degree at TUM,” said Nadine Chochoiek, student at TUM School of Management, “so for me the Career Fair was a great chance to make the most of great free services such as the application photo shoot and the résumé check, as well as to meet a lot of top firms from different industries. The atmosphere was really relaxed and you could just walk up and talk to people about their companies and the options for getting a job there. That sort of direct, personal contact gives you a much better idea about the firms, the people that work for them and the jobs they are offering than just looking on the Internet.”

This year’s Career Fair was once again aimed at people at different career levels, from undergraduates and doctoral students to alumni. Many of the companies interviewed the contacts they had made directly after the event. “The TUM Career Fair Technology & Management is a firm fixture in our calendar,” said Rainer Schmidt-Rudloff from Infineon, attending the Career Fair for the second time with other colleagues from his firm. “We meet highly motivated students taking the Management & Technology degree at TUM – which makes them very interesting for us at Infineon – and talk to them about what they could offer the company and what they could achieve with us. If we can give the students valuable first-hand tips for their studies or career orientation, then we are more than happy to do so.”
