Special Evaluation of the CHE Master Student Survey 2020: Crisis Management of the TUM School of Management Rated Outstanding

Yesterday, the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) published a special evaluation of the CHE Master Student Survey 2020 with a particular focus on students’ assessment of their study situation during the Corona pandemic. In the context of the current situation, questions about the universities’ Corona crisis management were included in the recently completed Master’s survey. The TUM School of Management was able to achieve outstanding results, especially at the TUM Campus Heilbronn. 100 % of the Master’s students in Heilbronn who were surveyed stated that they were satisfied with the school’s crisis management during the pandemic. Particularly, the variety of digital teaching formats and the transparency of requirements and learning goals within digital teaching formats received outstanding ratings from the students at the TUM Campus Heilbronn.

Throughout, the results of all business degree programs in Germany are very positive. Over 80 % of the Master’s students surveyed rated their university’s crisis management as “good” or “very good”. The TUM School of Management was able to achieve above-average results in this respect; 100 % of the surveyed students at the TUM Campus Heilbronn stated that they were satisfied with the school’s Corona crisis management. The following points stand out particularly, with a 100 % satisfaction rate: information management of the university on the current situation, variety of digital teaching formats, and transparency of requirements and learning goals within digital teaching formats. For all other categories, such as: the technical infrastructure to enable digital teaching formats, the didactic concept of lecturers especially for digital courses, and the reliability and frequency of digital feedback from lecturers, more than 85% of the students rated the TUM Campus Heilbronn as very good.

In Munich, 93 % of the Master’s students rated the overall crisis management of the school as “good” or “very good”. Here, too, the diversity of digital teaching formats such as online lectures, interactive seminars and tutorials, as well as the technical infrastructure to enable these formats, were rated as very good by the students.
