SustainabilityDialogue@TUM has launched
Blending science and practice: The first SustainabilityDiagloue@TUM took place at the TUM-Campus Straubing. The event offered an opportunity to exchange ideas on sustainability – across any company boundaries.
The network is aiming to give new impulses to the economy as well as to inspire the research and teaching activities at the TUM Campus: Companies benefit, for example, from current research know-how and from joint research projects, while they can use the network for recruiting top graduates, too. “On the other hand, our students are given the chance to get into contact with the industry and to find a partner for their final theses”, says Rector Prof. Dr. Volker Sieber.
At the start of the first event, Prof. Dr. Alexander Hübner from TUMCS talked about sustainable value chains. Also, Dr. Sören Winkelmann from KWS Saat spoke about sustainability concepts and challenges in agriculture.
“Interdisciplinarity and an exchange between companies and research were cited as the main interests,” said Alexander Hübner about the the first network meeting: “Furthermore, a cooperation with regard to an education on the subject of sustainability in research, development and management was high up on the lists of priorities.” The next meeting is planned for spring 2020.
