THE and Reuters ratings: TUM strong in research and innovation
Two new international rankings certify TUM’s (Technical University of Munich) outstanding performance. Both, the evaluation by the magazine “Times Higher Education” and the one by news agency Reuters rank the TUM amongst the best universities.
The “THE World University Ranking” of the British publication Times Higher Education ranks the TUM once again as by far the top German technical university in the areas of research, teaching and knowledge transfer (rank 4 German wide and rank 53 worldwide). The lists are headed by universities in the United States and the United Kingdom.
The ranking “Reuters Top 100 World’s Most Innovative Universities” has the aim of comparing the innovative capacity of scientific institutions. According to this analysis, TUM is the most innovative German university (rank 50 worldwide).
“All of these rankings have their weaknesses, but collectively they probably yield the correct overall picture,” says TUM President Wolfgang A. Herrmann. “Ten places up or down could be an error due to the complexity of the basic data. However, whoever consistently appears in the top 100 worldwide – in every ranking, year after year – can’t be going wrong.”
Further information on the rankings can be found on the TUM Website as well as at the “Times Higher Education” and Reuters.
