The Technical University of Munich celebrates its 150th anniversary
April 12, 2018, marks the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria in 1868. In celebration of the date, TUM will be holding events such as seminars, expositions, discussion forums and parties all year round. The main event on April 12 will feature speeches by guests of honor such as the Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the prime minister of the free state of Bavaria Dr. Markus Söder and the president of TUM Wolfgang A. Herrmann, who will adress students and kickstart the celebrations.
Since its inception, the Technical University of Munich has pushed its “culture of excellence” further and has helped pave the path for the technical development of Germany, especially in areas such as engineering and natural sciences. The university thrives today as one of Germany’s best university, basing itself on its main ideals of scientific process, international involvement and interdisciplinarity.
