Quantum technologies are a firmly established and strongly growing scientific research field with great application potential for industry. Experts and executives in high-tech industry will play a key role, as they must recognize and implement the specific potential of quantum technologies for their respective companies.

This masterclass presents the new introductory course ‘Quantum Computing’, which addresses the phenomena and mathematical description of quantum science and their application to the realm of quantum computing. Based on this, the course covers concepts, potentials, and limitations of quantum algorithms, the realizations of quantum computers, and advanced concepts like quantum simulations and quantum machine learning.

“QL3 – Quantum LifeLong Learning” is a joint project of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU). The aim is to set up a training and further education program in the field of quantum technologies.

Q&A Session

While the first quantum revolution laid the foundation of today’s information society, the second quantum revolution, which is just starting, promises novel applications such as quantum sensing and quantum communication. The most prominent application is quantum computing, the potential of which we will demonstrate in this masterclass based on selected potential use cases, ranging from optimization to material science.
