Digital Built Environment

Digital Built Environment

Positioned at the intersection of the built environment and information technology, our new German-language Certificate Program Building Information Modeling (BIM) Professional is aimed at decision makers in the areas of architecture and structural engineering.

The Building Information Modeling (BIM) approach consists of an innovative method to handle the planning, construction, and operation of buildings. At the center of BIM is a digital 3D-model that optimizes cooperation between different stakeholders in various stages of a building’s life cycle. BIM also forms the basis for a variety of new and innovative use models. Its methods can be employed regardless of a building’s size, function, and complexity.

As the process of digital transformation proceeds, companies need to build digital planning and construction expertise within their own organizations in order to gain competitive advantages. To professionals who are looking to advance their skill set, BIM delivers the necessary tools and know-how for digitally planning and executing their own strategic building concepts.

Enroll in the TUM’s new Certificate Program to gain forward-looking, scientifically proven skills for digitally planning and operating your next projects and return to your organization as a certified BIM Professional.

Goals of the Certificate Program

The Certificate Program presents the latest tools and methods for successful project implementation based on the BIM approach. Planners attain a 360-degree view of aspects such as technologies, processes, human resources and official guidelines involved in a project.

Classes cultivate an interactive exchange between participants and lecturers in a communicative workshop atmosphere. Enhanced by case studies and small group exercises, your Building Information Modeling (BIM) insights can be applied directly to your next project.

The Certificate Course is closely structured in line with the new German Engineer Association (VDI) guideline No 2552-8 “BIM Qualifikation” (currently under development).

Please note that this program is taught in German.
