Professor Thomas Hutzschenreuter holds the Chair of Strategic and International Management at Technical University of Munich (TUM). In addition, at TUM School of Management he serves as Vice Dean International Affairs & Alliances. Before joining TUM, from 2002 to 2015, he taught at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management where he held the Chair of Corporate Strategy and Governance. Moreover, he was Professor of International Management at Boston University, Visiting Scholar at Duke University – Fuqua School of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Campaign, Florida International University, and at the University of Calgary – Haskayne School of Business.
In 2018, Professor Hutzschenreuter received the „Executive Education Award for Teaching Excellence“ by TUM School of Management. His research received multiple national and international awards, such as the “Haynes Prize for the Most Promising Scholar in International Business“ by Academy of International Business, the “Best Annual Paper Award” by the Journal of Management Studies, and the “Best Annual Paper Award” by the Verband der Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft. Moreover, he received the “Best Teacher Award“ by Bucerius Law School and WHU as well as the „Best Senior Editor Award” by Management and Organization Review.
Professor Hutzschenreuter’s research interests include uncertainty, expansion strategies of MNEs, top management teams, corporate governance, and the theory of the firm. His research has appeared in journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Management, Leadership Quarterly, and Strategic Organization. Currently, Professor Hutzschenreuter is Senior Editor of Management and Organization Review and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of International Business Studies among other academic journals. Professor Hutzschenreuter loves to write essays for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and other business press, serves as academic advisor for large and medium-sized companies, and gives invited keynote speeches.
