High Rankings for TUM School of Management Degree Programs

CHE University Rankings: Once again, students rate management programs highly

Students awarded excellent ratings to the Technical University of Munich (TUM) for studies in Management. In the new ranking published by the Centre for Higher Education (CHE), TUM School of Management is listed in the top group in numerous categories, such as: research and research orientation, equipment and facilities, and support during the study entry phase and career orientation. TUM School of Management was honored to be the only German university to receive top ratings in all categories concerning research and our scientific approach to lecture.

Every three years the CHE rates subjects at more than 300 universities. The main objective is to offer guidance to prospective students. To compile the rankings, the center conducts surveys of students and assesses various performance indicators. Universities are categorized into three groups (top, middle, and bottom) based on 30 different categories that vary by subject.

The latest issue, released today, covers management programs as well. Bachelor students at the TUM School of Management awarded top marks to the school under the criteria of: courses offered, research orientation in lectures and career orientation. The TUM School of Management is also listed in the top group regarding IT infrastructure and the equipment provided in libraries, study spaces and lecture halls. “It is great to see, that our students appreciate our efforts to provide optimal study conditions. Our well-developed IT infrastructure has further enabled us to quickly adapt to new circumstances due to Covid-19, and switch to digital teaching formats for most of our courses this summer semester”, says Gunther Friedl, Dean of TUM School of Management.

In addition, the CHE analysis shows that the school provides optimal support during the study entry phase. “Our students are our most important stakeholders, which is why we make every effort to welcome our freshmen into the TUM family and provide several programs designed to enable a great start at TUM School of Management”, comments Gunther Friedl. Overall, he is very pleased with the results: “The school was once again able to achieve consistently good results in the areas concerning student affairs. It is great to see that our students feel supported by the school, especially during the start of their studies and during career orientation. We are also very happy about the improvement compared to three years ago with regards to our research.” The school is the only university in Germany that received top ratings in all categories concerning research: publications, research grants, and PhDs, and the school’s research reputation, and concerning the school’s scientific approach to lecture. This further confirms the school’s reputation as particularly strong in research and innovation. The TUM Campus Heilbronn was also included in the survey on research and contributes to the school’s top position.
