The Jobboard of TUM Management Alumni e.V.: Interface Between Graduates and Employers

For many graduates, the time after graduation always feels a bit like the moment of truth: Did I make good use of my studies and gain the right qualifications? Do my specializations match the expectations on the job market? Can I convince employers of my personality and professional behavior? However, graduates who are about to finish their studies right now are confronted with even greater uncertainty. The crisis resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus has caused the economy to collapse and many companies have put a stop to their hiring activities for the time being. Therefore, the most important thing now is to rely on the right sources when looking for career opportunities. The TUM Management Alumni e.V. Jobboard offers a platform that connects graduates with companies on the lookout.

Students have access to a list with vacant positions at partner companies – the offers include internships, jobs for working students and permanent positions for young professionals. “We are in close contact with our partner companies who send us open positions because they’ve had great experiences with our students and graduates in the past,” reports Juliane Mietke, Corporate Partner Relations Manager of TUM Management Alumni e.V.. The Jobboard, which is regularly updated, thus provides a good overview of the job market. “Over the last couple of weeks, I have received feedback from some students who applied for jobs on other platforms. The only reactions they got after sending in their applications were emails stating that companies are not hiring at the moment”, says Mietke. “Obviously, this is quite frustrating for them. Not only due to the disappointment that comes with being rejected but also because of the time spent with fine-tuning an application. Our platform excludes that problem because we are always in close contact with our partners and update the site on a very regular basis. That way, only companies who are really looking for additions to their teams are listed here.“ Additionally, the Jobboard informs about career events of TUM Management Alumni e.V. and project studies.

The Jobboard has the purpose of providing orientation for students. Even though it is currently more difficult to find a suitable job on the hard-pushed job market, there are many companies looking for qualified young talents. “Many of our students have successfully entered their careers through the virtual formats and the Jobboard,” Mietke emphasizes. “I can only encourage all graduates to enter the application phase with confidence and hope.”
