“I feel deeply honored by being put in a line with the likes of Ray A. Goldberg of Havard Business School and H. Christopher Peterson of Michigan State University whom I greatly admired as a young professor. IFAMA has given me many opportunities to work with industry, public and academic leaders in the agrifood world and provide service on the highest levels,” commented Prof. Bitsch. “I could not have done it without the support of my team, my family and my friends.”

The IFAMA is an international management organization that brings together current and future business, academic, and government leaders along with other industry stakeholders to improve the strategic focus, transparency, sustainability, and responsiveness of the global food and agribusiness system.

Prof. Vera Bitsch conducts research in the field of agricultural economics and agribusiness management primarily with qualitative research approaches. She is also active in method development and in the national doctoral program in agricultural economics. Just recently, in July 2020, she was appointed to the Agriculture Commission for the Future by the German Federal Cabinet. She is also a member of the Hans Eisenmann Forum for Agricultural Sciences, a central institute at the TUM.

Vera Bitsch joined the Technical University of Munich (TUM) as full professor in 2010 and heads the Chair of Economics of Horticulture and Landscaping. The professorship is located at both the TUM School of Management and the TUM School of Life Sciences in Weihenstephan. In addition, Prof. Bitsch currently serves in numerous professional and honorary functions such as president of the German Society for Horticultural Science and Managing Editor for International Food and Agribusiness Management Review.
