Professor Christoph Kaserer receives the TUM Executive Education Award for Teaching Excellence 2022

This year’s winner of the TUM Executive Education Award for Teaching Excellence was announced as Professor Christoph Kaserer, Head of TUM’s Professorship for Financial Management and Capital Markets.

TUM Executive Education Award for Teaching

Presented to Professor Kaserer this year during our graduation ceremony, the TUM Executive Education Award for Teaching is the highest form of recognition awarded to our teaching staff within our Executive and Professional Education programs.

Awarded to those who make an outstanding contribution to executive education at TUM, and who return the highest scores in our module evaluations, Professor Kaserer became the first recipient to have been awarded this honor for the second time. Previous winners also number amongst other outstanding members of our university, including Professor Hana Milanov, Professor Thomas Hutzschenreuter, Professor Helmut Krcmar, Professor Gunter Friedl and Professor Robert von Weizsäcker.

This year’s winner: Christoph Kaserer

It should come as no surprise that Professor Kaserer scooped up the prize for a second time, regularly scoring amongst our top evaluated professors and having been an active part of executive education at TUM since 2005. Amongst his many roles at the university Professor Kaserer has been Academic Program Director for Executive Education (2010 – 2014) our industry leading Certified Private Equity Analyst Program (2014 – present) and also served as Dean of TUM School of management (2005 – 2010).

Professor Kaserer also finds himself regularly asked to comment on current affairs. In times of financial and banking crisis and more recently during the widely publicized Wirecard scandal, his expertise in finance was frequently sought after in media interviews and commentaries.

Considering his many responsibilities, alongside his primary position as Professor of Financial Management and Capital Markets, makes it even more impressive that he continues to deliver the highest quality of teaching each year!

“It was intense, but I feel like I learned a lot”

The Teaching Award is given to those who receive outstanding results from our teaching evaluations in modules. Winners are able to demonstrate not just a high quality of teaching, but a depth of expertise and a consistency that proves itself again and again over the course of the semester.

This year Professor Kaserer was notably commended for: “Excellent teaching methods.” For designing classes that made corporate finance “very easy to follow for someone from a non-finance background” and for making the experience “enjoyable” and “engaging”.

One participant summed it up wonderfully, “It was intense, but I feel like I learned a lot.” Which sounds like an excellent executive summary of our Executive MBA programs here at TUM. Learning demands commitment and intensity, but when delivered by the best teachers, is an unforgettable experience.

From all of us here at the TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning, and from the participants who awarded Professor Kaserer this year, a huge congratulations.
