Get Involved! The Buddy Program Application is Now Open

Get involved and apply now to become a buddy!

Last year’s CHE ranking showed, that students at the TUM School of Management feel that the school provides optimal support during the study entry phase. “Our students are our most important stakeholders, which is why we make every effort to welcome our freshers into the TUM family and provide several programs designed to enable a great start”, says Gunther Friedl, Dean of the TUM School of Management. One of those programs is the Buddy Program, initiated to support first-year students or exchange students when they first arrive in Munich. The application for the upcoming summer term is currently open.

By participating, students have the great opportunity to meet new people from all over the world, attend fun events and make new friends. On top of that, they might be able to improve their foreign language skills and gain in-depth intercultural competencies. Buddies help their protégés feel comfortable after arriving in their new environment and sometimes even before they arrive in Munich. Altogether, buddies play a large role in making studying at TUM School of Management a valuable experience.

Students can become a one-to-one buddy for an exchange student or a one-to-group buddy for freshers. Being a buddy for an exchange student means establishing the first contact between students from abroad and TUM School of Management students and help them settle in, both in Munich and at TUM. They might also support the exchange students in finding accommodation. Students who choose to become a buddy for freshers provide assistance to a group of new students during their first semester, and organize fun social events and get-togethers.

The application period for the summer semester 2021 runs until February 3rd, 10:00 am. More information and the application link can be found here, questions can be directed to buddy_muc@wi.tum.de.
